Rhode Island Black Business Association Announces Grand Opening of Black and Woman-Owned Counseling Center in Providence County for
Providence, RI – September 1, 2023 – The Rhode Island Black Business Association (RIBBA) is pleased to announce the Grand Opening of the Black and Woman-owned Peace, Love & Power Counseling and Consulting Services LLC! Our team here at RIBBA is extremely proud of founder, Hope Johnson, who has worked rigorously in developing her business. Mrs. Johnson is a client who has taken advantage of many of our programs and business technical support, including website development, Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Certification, informational resources, and $3,000 granted to Peace, Love & Power Counseling to fund start-up costs. RIBBA is immensely excited to be a part of this journey of developing what will now be an organization committed to therapeutic counseling to individuals and couples of all ages, along with aiding social workers seeking independent licensure.
Hope carries over 25 years of experience as a Social Worker. She was determined to succeed and give back to her community, receiving her master’s degree in social work while being a young mother of six and working in child welfare, adoption, community services, schools, and hospitals. Her journey to what is now Peace, Love & Power Counseling and Consulting Services LLC began from a desire to increase access to mental health services in her community. Hope recognized that as a person of color, it was difficult to find a therapist of color. She will be using her expertise and her amazing team to increase access to culturally sensitive mental health services in the South Providence area and mentoring new and aspiring Social Workers to provide quality counseling services in the community.
Access to capital has been a trending challenge for Minority-Owned Businesses in the state of Rhode Island. Organizations like RIBBA are committed to providing support in all areas, including making sure our clients have a pipeline to financial resources that will grow their business. Providing Hope with $3,000 of capital without the pressure of having to pay it back is critical for the proper head start that every business needs! Hope, with the assistance RIBBA provides, is currently on her way to being MBE certified, keeping her compliant with state regulations and increasing her bankability for access to future capital. Our goal is to continue providing tailored business development support necessary for not only sustaining Rhode Island businesses like Hope’s but promoting job creation for Rhode Island residents.
We are elated to share in the celebration of the Grand Opening of Peace, Love & Power Counseling and Consulting Services LLC., and we ask that you join Hope Johnson and the RIBBA team as we continue to embark on this journey to create and develop more businesses that foster access to communities of color. Bravo Hope Johnson! The Grand Opening will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 10AM at 112 Bogman Street, Providence, RI, 02905. We will see you there!
